AI Adventures

Welcome to AI Adventures camp where campers are invited to explore Artificial Intelligence as a tool for creativity, problem-solving, and self-expression. Campers will discover how AI works behind the scenes while using it in playful, hands-on ways by designing projects, experimenting with ideas, and bringing their imaginations to life. Through engaging activities and age-appropriate AI lessons, students will see that AI isn’t just something we use, but it’s something we can thoughtfully create with. Creativity leads the way at this camp! Campers will design projects, train simple AI models, explore patterns, and create interactive activities that reflect their own ideas and interests. Through games, discussions, challenges, and creative building time, students will see how AI can support storytelling, art, problem-solving, and innovation. No prior coding or tech experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to try new things! We also help campers become thoughtful and responsible AI users. Along the way, students will learn that AI is a powerful tool that should be used responsibly. Through age-appropriate conversations and real-world examples, campers will explore topics like fairness, bias, privacy, and making good digital choices. of his/her obtaining their driver's license in time to enjoy some Fall Freedom in 2026!

We have partnered with PEAKWAY DRIVING SCHOOL (APEX) to offer a Driver's Ed class during our regular 2025 Summer Camp Season.

Other Requirements:  North Carolina requires all students to have a DMV basic eye check.  DMV may send a representative to the class to administer the basic eye check, or you may be required to obtain your own (DMV stopped offering this service when Covid hit, and it may or may not have been restarted.)

All of this information is found in the North Carolina Driver's Handbook (REV 2020)—a comprehensive guide to driving in the state. Topics covered in the DMV handbook include:

  • Defensive driving techniques.
  • NC driver's license exams.
  • Basic driving skills.
  • Driving under hazardous conditions.
  • Traffic signals, signs, and pavement markings.
  • Vehicle registration and titling.
  • Required vehicle inspections in North Carolina.
  • Registering as an organ donor.
Dungeons and Dragons Camp 2026

Dungeons and Dragons, or D&D, is a tabletop roleplaying game where you take on the role of a character you customize, create and play as through a game over multiple sessions. The story is mostly a series of encounters and situations that you are walked through by a Dungeon Master. The outcomes of the game are based on dice rolls which are modified by the character stats you chose! In this camp the first session is dedicated to character creation and figuring out which story we will play. We run published adventures and will play a short campaign across the remainder of our 4 sessions.

This is definitely a camper’s favorite adventure! Because we will have all day together, we will have the opportunity to visit animals near and far. We will go to the NC Zoo. This is a fantastic treasure and never disappoints. We will see some of the updated animal exhibits and play on the playgrounds. We will visit animals in other places that we can see up close and some that we can even interact with! Last year at the Aloha Zoo, we were able to pet a 4 month old baby lemur and feed giraffes and lots of huge grazing animals! We met a baby pygmy hippo named Blueberry. We have seen him as a newborn two years ago, and then as a silly toddler last year! This camp is designed for campers to be able to join for the first time or come back again to see new animal friends we have made! Each day, we will have arts and crafts projects for our time on the bus and as we have time at the end of the day! We will have picnics and playtime together at every location. Welcome to the wonderful world of Mountain Biking! At "Intro to Mountain Biking" your child will get lessons on bike controls adjustments, balancing techniques, how to maneuver over and/or around obstacles, and learn how cycling is a healthy and fun activity that can be fulfilling for life! Of course we will have loads of fun!  At the beginning of the week we will do some basic riding around the Woods parking lot with cones and small obstacles to gauge their skill level. As the days go on we will advance to the “back 40” field to do some off-road riding along with advanced body positioning and braking/accelerating drills. We will then move to some smooth single track trails on and around the Woods property. On the last day of the camp we will hold a “fun race” for the kids to execute the skills they have learned during the week.   All participants will need to have a functioning bicycle, helmet, proper shoes (closed toes, no crocs), a healthy snack, and water. Is your child an aspiring chef? How great would it be if when you picked up your kiddo from school he/she had dinner ready for the family!? If this sounds too good to be true, it’s not! In this summer camp, your child becomes your family’s personal chef. Each time we meet, your child will prepare a FULL MEAL for a family of 4. Some things will need to be baked once home, but all the work is done. Just turn that oven on, parent! Campers will learn how to hold a knife, always cut away from one's self, and why a sharp knife is safer than a dull one. They will also learn to select the best cooking utensil for most efficient cooking. Campers will learn how to safely use a mixer, griddle, electric kettle, crock-pot, and more! Each meal will include 3-4 parts: a main course and veggie side accompanied by a 2nd side dish and/or a dessert. Meals will always have a vegetarian option. So save yourself time and mess and have your kiddo be the family chef!

Stop Motion Animation

Get ready for a week of creativity, storytelling, and magic! This stop-motion animation camp is perfect for children who love to build and create. This camp teaches the art of stop-motion animation, where stories and  creations come to life on screen. Campers will design and build their own scenes using clay, paper, Lego and various other materials, learn how to use cameras and software to capture their stories, and dive into the process of planning, storyboarding, and editing their animated films. Along the way, they'll experiment with special effects, sound effects, and fun techniques like making mini-figures talk, dunk basketballs, or score a hole-in-one! By the end of the week, each camper will have created their very own short stop-motion films and gained the skills to continue animating videos at home. This camp is open to all experience levels-but is particularly suitable for those with some animation experience, as animation with materials such as clay and paper can be more challenging than using LEGO.
