Modeling the Future

At Modeling the Future, campers explore how ideas become real, physical objects through 3D modeling and 3D printing. Campers will learn to use basic CAD(software to draft ideas), create digital models, and work with accurate measurements. They will also learn about the materials they print with, and how different types of plastic behave in different conditions. Through a series of guided mini-projects, campers practice the full design process by building, testing, identifying what doesn’t work, and redesigning their models. Campers will also learn how to prepare designs for 3D printing and safely produce physical objects. As the camp continues, campers sharpen their skills through feedback and iteration. The camp concludes with a final project where each camper will design and print a tool they get to take home that makes a task they find difficult or tedious easier.

Stop Motion Animation

Get ready for a week of creativity, storytelling, and magic! This stop-motion animation camp is perfect for children who love to build and create. This camp teaches the art of stop-motion animation, where stories and creations come to life on screen. Campers will design and build their own scenes using clay, paper, Lego and various other materials, learn how to use cameras and software to capture their stories, and dive into the process of planning, storyboarding, and editing their animated films. Along the way, they'll experiment with special effects, sound effects, and fun techniques like making mini-figures talk, dunk basketballs, or score a hole-in-one! By the end of the week, each camper will have created their very own short stop-motion films and gained the skills to continue animating videos at home. This camp is open to all experience levels-but is particularly suitable for those with some animation experience, as animation with materials such as clay and paper can be more challenging than using LEGO.
