Summer's coming, and it's a great time to get your child's Driver's Education class over and done with in anticipation
of his/her obtaining their driver's license in time to enjoy some Fall Freedom in 2026!
We have partnered with PEAKWAY DRIVING SCHOOL (APEX) to offer a Driver's Ed class during our regular 2025 Summer Camp Season.
Woods Charter School's 2026 Summer Camp Class is being offered the week of July 13h - 17th
Every day from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., starting Monday 7/13 and ending Thursday, July 17th
A four-hour online session will occur on Friday, July 18thm, and students must attend that remotely to achieve the 30-hour classroom instruction requirement,
Note: Due to State Requirements, students MUST attend ALL classes--students who miss any classes
and therefore lack a full 30 hours of in-class instruction cannot be passed in this class.
This course is comprised of the above 30-hours classroom instruction, as well as six (6) hours of behind-the-wheel instruction by certified instructors, as required by the NCDMV. The beind-the-wheel driving portion will be scheduled by Peakway, based on the student's age (oldest to youngest).
Age Requirement: Students must be 14-1/2 years of age as of the first day of class (July 13th) to take Driver's Education
Other Requirements: North Carolina requires all students to have a DMV basic eye check. DMV may send a representative to the class to administer the basic eye check, or you may be required to obtain your own (DMV stopped offering this service when Covid hit, and it may or may not have been restarted.)
Registration Cost: $540.00 for 30 hours of in-class instruction and six hours of behind-the-wheel driving instruction
Building Use Fee: $30.00/student
Important Note: This class must meet a minimum of 20 registered students to go forward.

Yay! I did it
PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS LIMITATION: Students cannot miss a single class for any reason, including illness, sporting events, out of town, etc. On-time daily attendance is necessary to pass the course. (The State's requirement of a minimum of 30 hours of classroom instruction is non-negotiable and inflexible.
